A great companion to noble red meats, small game such as quails or pheasant, grilled or roasted beef, but also poultry in sauce or fine creamy and fresh cheeses.

Origin

Rully is a communal appellation made up of 23 Premiers Crus climats. White Rullys spread on a 261 ha area - including 68 ha of Premiers Crus - whereas red Rullys are produced on a 116 ha area of which 28 are Premiers Crus.

Rully was named after a rich roman, Rubilius, who built a villa and founded the village during the roman occupation. It was at first named Rubiliacum and it evolved through the years to become the current Rully.

Terroir

The plot Molesme covers around 3 hectares of Pinot Noir vines facing east-south-east, with a flatter piedmont topography.

A plot with very generous soil that is not affected by drought. The subsoil is composed of an Oxfordian substratum of lithographic and oolitic limestone giving wines with an assertive character.

Vinification and maturing

Pinot Noir grapes from our Molesme parcel were hand-harvested and transported in crates from August 29 to 31, 2022. Maceration lasted between 14 and 20 days, including a 36-hour pre-fermentation cold soak before allowing fermentation to begin.

Vinification took place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, with daily pump-overs and some punch-downs.

The wine was then aged in oak barrels (25% new oak) for 8 months. A light earth filtration was carried out prior to bottling.

Vintage : 2022

Uncertain weather conditions all the year long, but mild in the end throughout the season!

The harvest, running from 25 August to 16 September. The grapes were beautifully healthy, with varying degrees of ripeness depending on the exposure.

Balanced, honest white wines. Maturing ought to bring just the right degree of roundness to red wines with varying qualities, depending on the maturity of each plot. We have both sophisticated, fruity red wines with a good Burgundy tension as well as rich, warmer ones.

A pleasant vintage in terms of quality with excellent yields for both whites and reds.

The vinification choices have been crucial as to whether to favour acidity or the alcoholic degree.
